What is Speech Therapy?

Speech therapy supports individuals in developing effective communication skills, addressing a wide range of speech, language, and communication needs. For children, therapy may focus on improving articulation, expanding vocabulary, strengthening the understanding and use of language, and supporting alternative communication methods such as AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication).

Therapy sessions are often play-based and child-led, creating a fun and engaging environment where children feel motivated and supported. A strong emphasis is placed on building trust and rapport, recognizing that meaningful connections are key to successful communication development.

Speech therapy may address challenges related to speech sound disorders, language delays, social communication skills, and more. Whether in a school, clinic, or home setting, therapy is most effective when it involves collaboration with families and caregivers, ensuring that strategies and progress extend beyond the therapy room and into the child’s everyday life.
